Abram Mokoena

Gender : Male
DOB: 26 March 2004

Overview: Abram was born with Cerebral Palsy. He does have parents which come to visit often.
He is wheelchair bound and is totally dependent in all areas of daily living.
Abram has poor verbal communication and can’t interact or participate in any activities. He is a very friendly child and is always smiling.

Alec Viljoen

Gender : Male
DOB: 06 September 1982

Overview: Alec has been a resident at the UCPA since July 1987 and is totally dependent in all areas of daily living. Alec cannot communicate and does not interact with anyone. Alec is wheelchair bound. He has a mother who comes and visits, but not often as she stays far. He goes home over the December holidays.

Andries Potgieter

Gender : Male
DOB: 11 November 1987

Overview: Andries is one of our new family members at the UCPA.
Andries is wheelchair bound and can feed himself.
He is such a funny person and always has a joke to share.
He has family who take him home some weekends.
Andries suffers from cerebral palsy but can communicate very well.

Ayabonga Jodo

Gender : Male
DOB: 27 October 2008

Overview: Ayabonga was born with Cerebral Palsy. He has been a resident since 2014. He does have a mother who comes and visits often. He is wheelchair bound and is totally dependent in all areas of daily living. Ayabonga is a pleasant individual who enjoys listening to music, coloring in and conversing with the other residents and staff. Due to spasticity of his hands, he has very limited activities that he can participate in.

Bakang Moseki

Gender : Male
DOB: 23 May 2003

Overview: Bakang was born with Cerebral Palsy. He does have a mother but her whereabouts are unknown. He is wheelchair bound and is totally dependent in all areas of daily living.
Bakang is a pleasant individual that enjoys listening to music. Due to spasticity of his hands, he cannot be involved in any activities. He can’t communicate and has very poor eyesight.

Catherine Mogale

Gender : Female
DOB: 27 November 1985

Overview: Catherine was born with Cerebral Palsy. Catherine does have family and they visit her often. She is wheelchair bound and is totally dependent in all areas of daily living. Catherine is a pleasant individual that enjoys listening to music, coloring in and attending school. She can’t communicate verbally but can communicate non-verbally.

Charmain Nemdzibate

Gender : Female
DOB: 25 January 2002

Overview: Charmain was born with Cerebral Palsy. Her mother abandoned her and she was placed in our care by a Social Worker when she was 3 years old.
She is wheelchair bound and is totally dependent in all areas of daily living.
Charmain is a pleasant individual that enjoys listening to music, coloring in and conversing with the other residents and staff. Due to spasticity of her hands, she can only be involved in certain activities.

Christine Gaberthuel

Gender : Female
DOB: 23 November 1993

Overview: Christine has been a resident since February 2010. Christine can walk but prefers to sit in her chair and be pushed around. She cannot communicate verbally but lets you know when she doesn’t want anything.
She is always smiling and very friendly.

Christo Pretorius

Gender : Male
DOB: 21 November 1983

Overview: Christo was born prematurely at 30 weeks and spent 6 weeks in an incubator.
He is totally dependent in all areas of daily living.
Christo is always smiling and is very friendly.
He has family and normally goes home over Christmas.

Cindi Dijak

Gender : Female
DOB: 08 November 1982

Overview: Cindi just recently joined the UCPA family. Her father had a stroke and could no longer look after her. She was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth. She is totally dependent on the care givers for her basic daily needs of living. Cindi loves talking to her new friends and can communicate in English and Afrikaans.

Dante Puccinelli

Gender : Male
DOB: 05 November 1980

Overview: Dante suffers from severe spastic quadriplegia and dystonia, he relies on the care givers for all his basic daily needs. He has poor vision and cannot communicate verbally. Dante has been a resident at the home since he was 4 years old. He is very friendly and loves all the attention he receives.

David Motsoeneng

Gender : Male
DOB: 29 March 1979

Overview: We don’t have any information regarding his birth as both his parents passed away.
He was placed in our care as his only living relatives can’t look after him. He is wheelchair bound and is totally dependent in all areas of daily living. David is a pleasant individual that enjoys listening to music and conversing with the other residents and staff. Due to spasticity of his hands, he cannot be involved in any activities.

Donnavan Paolini

Gender : Male
DOB: 27 December 1978

Overview: Donnavan was born with Cerebral Palsy . He walks using a walker and is totally dependent in all areas of daily living. Donnavan is a pleasant individual that enjoys listening to music, coloring in and conversing with the other residents and staff.

Dumisani Ngoma

Gender : Male
DOB: 09 October 1996

Overview: Dumisani was born normal. He had normal development up until the age of 3 when he developed pneumonia. He stopped breathing and as a result was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. He lost both his parents due to shooting accidents and was placed in our care by his grandmother which also sadly passed away. When he was first placed here he was unable to walk and through hard work and dedication he is now able to walk. He can’t communicate but is able to help himself in all aspects of daily activities. He is a very happy and pleasant individual.

Eddie Henkel

DOB: 05 May 1969

Overview: Eddie was born with Cerebral Palsy. He does have parents and normally visits them over December. He is in a special wheelchair and is totally dependent in all areas of daily living.
Eddie is a pleasant individual that enjoys listening to music. Due to spasticity of his hands he can’t participate in any activities.

Glynda Davenport

Gender : Female
DOB: 22 April 1971

Overview: Glynda was born with Cerebral Palsy. She does have family that is residing overseas and has been in our care since 1977. She uses a walker and is totally dependent in all areas of daily living except feeding. Glynda is a pleasant individual that enjoys beading. She can also participate in other activities during stimulation.

Juanita (Nita) Taljaard

Gender : Female
DOB: 09 September 1988

Overview: Nita has been a resident at the UCPA since 1990. She loves to talk to a person and gets a bit shy when given too much attention. She is wheelchair bound and incontinent, Nita is totally dependent in all areas of her daily needs. She is very friendly and is always smiling.

Jeremy Otto

Gender : Male
DOB: 22 October 1985

Overview: Not much is known about his birth. He was placed in our care by Social Workers due to being abused by both his parents when still very young. Totally dependent in all areas of daily living. He loves music. Does not participate in any activities and can’t communicate.

Jesmeen Motan

Gender : Female
DOB: 09 December 1989

Overview: Jesmeen was born with Cerebral Palsy. Her mother comes to visit her but not often.
She can walk but is totally dependent in all areas of daily living. Jasmeen is not a social individual as she prefers to be alone, therefore she does not participate in any activities.

 

 

Justin Engelbrecht

Gender : Male
DOB: 17 September 1982

Overview: Justin has been a permanent resident of the UCPA since November 1984. He is a very busy body and loves to move around a lot. He understands when spoken to and can speak a few words. His vocabulary is growing by the day. He participates in the stimulation centre but cannot concentrate for long periods. He has no family who comes to visit him.

Klaudia Klunder

DOB: 02 October 1973

Overview: Klaudia was born with Cerebral Palsy. Her mother recently passed away. She does have a twin sister but unfortunately she lives overseas and does not see her often. She is wheelchair bound and is totally dependent in all areas of daily living. Klaudia is a pleasant individual that enjoys listening to music, coloring in and conversing with the other residents and staff.

Mpho Ramatla

DOB: 10 February 2004

Overview: Mpho was born with Cerebral Palsy. He is wheelchair bound and is totally dependent in all areas of daily living. Mpho has poor verbal communication and can’t interact or participate in any activities. He is a very friendly child and is always smiling.

Nomsa Bhongo

DOB: 08 September 2001

Overview: Nomsa was born with Cerebral Palsy. She does have parents and has been residing with us since 2012. She is wheelchair bound and is totally dependent in all areas of daily living. Nomsa is a very shy individual that enjoys listening to music and coloring in. Due to spasticity of her hands, she cannot be involved in any other activities. Nomsa is not toilet trained and is in nappies.

Oupa Bezuidenhout

DOB: 05 September 1967

Overview: Johannes was born with Cerebral Palsy. He was abandoned at birth and was placed in our care by the SAVF in 1978. He is wheelchair bound and is totally dependent in all areas of daily living expect feeding. Johannes communicates very little but when encouraged he will communicate to the staff and other residents. He can participate in stimulation with painting etc.

Owen Khumalo

DOB: 09 December 1999

Overview: We don’t have any information regarding his birth on record. He was abandoned by his mother when he was 3 months old at the hospital where he was admitted after being very sick. His mother just left him there. He was placed in our care in 2003.He is wheelchair bound and enjoys playing in the ball pond. He can feed himself but otherwise he is totally dependent in all areas of daily living. Overall he is a jolly child, charming and his health status in good and stable.

Pieter Rossouw

Overview: Pieter was born with Cerebral Palsy. He was abandoned at birth and was placed in our care by the Welfare Society in 1984. He is wheelchair bound and is totally dependent in all areas of daily living. Pieter is a pleasant individual that enjoys listening to music, writing letters to his friends and conversing with the other residents and staff. Due to spasticity of his hands, he cannot be involved in any activities.

Riaan van der Schyff

DOB: 10 January 1984

Overview: Riaan has been a resident at the UCPA since 2008. Riaan is wheelchair bound and totally dependent on the care givers for his daily needs. Riaan is very friendly and always has a smile ready for you. He understands well and can communicate verbally but it is sometimes difficult to understand him.

Simphiwe Gabela

DOB: 15 April 2001

Overview: Simphiwe joined the UCPA family in 2021 and has fitted in well. Simphiwe can walk and enjoys attending stimulation classes.

 

 

 

 

Vanessa Barkhuizen

DOB: 21 April 1967

Overview: Vanessa was born with Cerebral Palsy. Her mother signed consent for adoption at birth and was placed in our care by the Welfare Society in 1977. She is wheelchair bound and is totally dependent in all areas of daily living. Vanessa is a pleasant individual that enjoys listening to music, coloring in and conversing with the other residents and staff. Due to spasticity of her hands, she cannot be involved in any other activities.

Wendy de la Mare

DOB: 23 December 1971

Overview: Wendy was born with Cerebral Palsy. She does have parents and has been in our care since 1979. She is wheelchair bound and is totally dependent in all areas of daily living. Wendy is a pleasant individual that enjoys listening to music, coloring in and conversing with the other residents and staff. Due to spasticity of her hands, she cannot be involved in any other activities.
